This 1975 scorcher is no ordinary tune – and in our opinion a contender for the gold standard of Roots music. Produced by Junior Smith (Roy Smith), a founding member of The Westmorelites (later The Itals) and Elias Stewart, The Pre-Historian who both hail from Savanna-la-Mar, Jamaica. “Free Yourself” lays the foundation with a message that still resonates today. More than a song, it’s a call to action.
